The next Citizens Roundtable will be this Thursday Nov 5th at 6:30pm at the Lebanon Elementary School.The meeting is open to all Lebanon residents to discuss events occurring in town and to discuss ways to improve matter affecting the Town. The meeting is a casual exchange allowing everyone the opportunity to speak, ask questions, and propose solutions. You can view details of previous meetings on this site. The next Citizen’s Rountable meeting will be Wednesday September 9th at 6:30pm at the Lebanon Elementary School on Upper Guinea Road. The meeting was formerly at the Old Town Hall but was changed due to conflicts. Please note the new location on your calendar, more details will be coming soon.

1st Swine Flu Death – York County

It has been reported that the first swine flu death in Maine occurred last week in York County. You can see the full story here at WCSH. I am not posting to panic people, but simple precautions like washing your hands regularly can help reduce your risk. There is more information on precautions you can take both here and at Lebanon rescues website.

Does the Town of Lebanon agree to adopt the changes made to the Shoreland Zoning Ordinance as outlined in the State of Maine mandated guidelines, simplifying the document for easier comprehension ?

Please join the Selectmen in reviewing the changes made to the Shoreland Zoning Ordinance. The majority of the changes to simplify the document for easier comprehension.

Assessor’s Day – Saturday, 4/18/09

There will be an Assessor’s Day on Saturday, 4/18/09 from 9:00 am to Noon to be held at the Town Office at 15 Upper Guinea Rd. This gives residents the opportunity to come into the Town Office and let the assessors know of any changes to their property.

The agenda stated that they will be working on referendums for the June ballot.

Here is a copy of a letter from Sheriff Maurice Ouellette to the Town Selectmen detailing the impact of the upcoming cuts by the County Commissioners. In brief the budget cuts stay as they are the outcome will be a loss of four Patrol Deputies. Please make a point to attend the upcoming Public Hearing January 7th at the courthouse to help potentially change the Commissioners votes and show support for our law enforcement.

County Cutting Funding by Half

Last night at the Selectmen Meeting it was mentioned that the York County budgetiers are looking to cut the Law Enforcement services by half. What does this mean you ask? If i understand properly the county looks to reduce the active law enforcement to the area which would reduce coverage of the town from the current four persons down to two. This will save the County something like 1% or about a hundred and eighty thousand.

Personally I think there is 1% that could come from a another source and leave our law enforcement alone. The Selectmen urge residents of Lebanon to attend a meeting at 7pm at the York County Courthouse in Alfred on Wednesday Jan 7 to show your support to save the service. Citizen’s Round Table – Meeting Postponed

The Citizen’s Round Table scheduled to start in January has been indefinitely postponed. My hope is that I will be able to start this program soon but due to personal reasons and unforeseen professional commitments I cannot commence the meeting at this time.

Citizen’s Round Table – 1st Wednesday of Month

The inaugural Citizen’s Round Table is scheduled for the 1st Wednesday of the month beginning January 7th 2009. The meeting will be held at the Lebanon Elementary Gymnasium from 6:30pm to 7:30pm. All residents are invited and encouraged to attend. You can learn more of the premise for begining the round table meeting here.

I am soliciting input from residents and putting together an agenda. Please let me know if you have any particular topics you would like to explore by commenting this article or via email. I believe this will be a fairly free form and informative meeting. More information will be coming soon, Please spread the word and save the date.

The Selectmens meeting scheduled for tonight Dec. 2nd has been cancelled. Reminder to all residents the Selectmen meet every Tuesday morning at 9am. FMI Call 207-608-6862.

The above was sent out by the Town Office at 7:13am today. Don’t we residents deserve more than a 11hr notice for a cancellation?. It’s also nice that they remind us (1:47 min) that they meet every Tuesday morning. I can only guess there is vote occurring today we would likely be interested in or they are feeling bad for missing 5 of the last seven weeks, or both. If anyone can make it to the meeting today and please report back it would be appreciated.

I was unaware there was a standing meeting at 9am on Tuesdays mornings and have requested a copy of the minutes from the past meetings.
