Community Invited to Goals Workshop

I wanted to pass this on. If you cannot make it that night, please feel free to send any suggestions to:  Lebanon Selectmen – 15 Upper Guinea Road, Lebanon, Maine 04027
Thank you,
Jason
“My major goals during the year include continuing to improve communications within town agencies and with the public. The new facebook site for the Town of Lebanon has been a huge success, with about 500 people following information and receiving regular updates. I want to continue to build the town website to its fullest potential and be a place for residents to get all the information that they need. I would also like to do a quarterly newsletter to keep residents up to date on town happenings and budget concerns. This is also going to be a very difficult budget year with potential additional state cuts in municipal sharing and tax relief programs like the circuit breaker program and homestead exemption. I am holding a public workshop on Tuesday, June 29th at 6:30pm at the municipal building to solicit goals from residents on where they would like the town to focus on over the next fiscal year and I would encourage residents to become involved in the process and help the selectmen with establishing the goals for the next fiscal year.” Chairman elect Jason Cole stated. “I want residents to feel comfortable contacting the selectmen and they can call me 24 hours a day on my cell phone at (207) 608-5615.”

    Excellent idea.
Can you add the selectmen E-Mail link above?
first suggestion would be to fix the town website. a lot of links go no place. Ex. start page use link for documents and forms then try to go to a document.

  2. Me says:

change 1 of the dump days so it is open late on Thursday when the town hall is open late. It would be nice to make 1 trip to that side of town.

  3. Me says:

Roads should be a high priority. Everyone uses them. Should start with the roads that are unsafe or a safety hazard. I am not how the priority is set but I would think after safety it should be on the most used roads.

Perhaps look into ways to save money or cut cost at the transfer station. and although this goes against cutting cost have a free dump day a few times a year.

  4. pat says:

even though i work that night, i agree with Me that roads should be a priority. Also a better fire and rescue station for those men and women

  5. striveforchange says:

There’s alot that needs to be fixed but I have to agree with pat and me. The roads sorely need to be worked on.
One other thing, New Bridge Road. Pertaining to the bridge itself. I know for a fact that double tandum log trucks were running over that bridge several times a day fully loaded. Shouldn’t they be responsible for the expense of fixing that bridge. It is suppose to be a historic bridge from what I understand. I know the name of the log truck ccompany going over that bridge. It’s not a resident of Lebanon. I can tell you but won’t mention it here.

  6. chris gilpatrick says:

it is very ironic that our chairman wants to improve communications with the public and build the town website to its full potential.tuesdays selectmens meeting made a change for the use of the dump by allowing businesses to start dumping trash at the dump.there was discussion on why some businesses were allowed access and others have been refused useage.the change was asked to be posted on the town website and other ways of letting businesses know of these changes.selectman cole said this would be posted.it is now friday and still no postings anywhere.so instead of talking about making something residents can get all the information they need,do it.

  7. Andy H says:

lebanon roads are the worst and its because we havent been putting enough money into them – we cut each year and they need more money-

but i am sure STS will get plenty

  8. jr says:

is that slander? in your next conversation with mr. cole you should ask him the definition. we put 1.1 million into them the last six years. 1.1 million!!!! how have we cut money the previous road agents received a fraction of that. the funny part of the whole STS comment is i went in to STS to pay a bill and i asked how Larry was doing. The topic that was brought up was all the local businesses Larry had hired to do work. Companies that would have never worked on the town before. I think Andy H is just another wannabe politician. last time i checked a pseudonym couldnt claim slander. maybe the person behind the pen names should stop before someone catches them in all their lies……

  9. chris gilpatrick says:

WOW!!! andy talk of sour grapes.your right they are the worst and they haven’t gotten any better in six years now let someone know what their doing get it done right the first time.as far as cutting i believe the budget is about $100,00 more than last year.please get your facts from jason so you know what you’re talking about.

  10. jr says:

just to go back on the road budget i took a ride down lower cross and you know what i saw….? road shoulders what a novel idea, a road agent that listens to the people. i also saw a local business hauling grave so i feel its a safe assumption to say another company who received little or no work from their hometown worked to make our roads safer and we kept our tax dollars within the community. way to go Larry Im glad i chose the right man for the job!!!

  11. chris gilpatrick says:

i saw the gravel wasn’t hauled all the way across town either but the closest pit available.and to top it off ,they actually used a big truck to haul the dirt.cost savings in the first week after being elected.about time!!!!!!!!!!

  12. striveforchange says:

    I have something to say.

This is in reference to the wooden bridge going over into NH, on New Bridge Road.
They have posted the weight for vehicles using this bridge at 3 tons maximum. Someone has replaced several boards and done other work on it just this week, causing traffic to be temporarily detoured. There WERE signs posted on the bridge prohibiting swimming, and diving from it, due to boats that pass beneath. Today, it was full of kids, in the road and jumping off either side of that bridge. Lets see if the selectmen do anything about that….

Or will they wait until some kid gets hit and injured or killed before something gets done???

  13. striveforchange says:

That is wonderful on the savings by the new road commissioner. Thank you so much please keep up the good work.
