West Lebanon Village is now minus one of its majestic, 100 year old, historical trees – which WAS located near the “5 Corners”, on private property. The town is responsible for taking it down. According to officials, it was cut down because they decided it had a split in the tree, which they felt was a safety hazard. NO one talked to the property owner ahead of time, in reference to this situation. In fact, the company that cut it down did it while the property owner was NOT at home, despite the protestations of neighbors. The tree company explained to the neighbors that they had an order from the town, but presented NO such document to them. Further, the land owner, who burns wood for heat, was NOT offered the opportunity to keep the wood for himself, nor was any part of that tree left for the family as a remembrance of the once historical monument.
According to people who live in West Lebanon Village, the tree was posing no problem to anyone or anything, as far as they knew. The family is very upset over this situation. They have many, many memories which are now forever gone because of someone’s mistake? You decide…………..
Thankfully, the owner and his family does have many photos from which they can remember the 100 year old beauty of this majestic monument…………………
Not knocking Mr. Bently, but WHO IS HE LOL?
LOL I have to laugh at suing. We are all entitled to our opinions and can express them on here.
If you don’t like this site Mr. Harmon, why are you here???????????To stir the pot?
Mr. Bentley owns Abbott Hill Tree Service and is based out of North Berwick. He provides tree service for many municipalities such as North Berwick, Sanford, and Rye NH. He does excellent work and myself and my father have referred him more than once to our clients. I really hope this gets cleared up because it places him and his company in a negative light.
Andy H. we now have seen his true colors. jason should have a receipt, a sales slip, and everything . not sure what “the sales slip and everything” would referance but you seam to know you have spoken with him.
i wonder, he’s convinced himself that,
by adding his job that day he saved the town money, but, he also believes that in no way did he benifit from this. a $1200 to $1500 job slashed to $300.
even a better deal than what we had discussed the night of the 8th, when he told me that he and the town split the bill, and that he was paying for more than his share becuase the work crew was only at his house for 2 hours and was in
w. lebanon for 6.
you also said you have heard of the owner of the tree cutting company and that he is a reputable guy. well he had told me that the town called him and asked him to resubmit two new bills on the morning of the 9th, but im sure the next time you talk to jason he can set you straight.
to prove the cost to cut the tree on his property check the 5-5-09 selectmen meeting at about 33 minutes in ,the cost was $1400.00 to cut the tree.so he paid $300.00 because it was cut the same day the town was hired to cut another tree.so the town saved money because jason saved $1,100 on having his cut??!! i am NOT a rocket scientist but maybe someone can explain how this helped the taxpayers?did the town crew clean up the wood as well on this tree as well?maybe we should move on and sweep this under the rug !!!
Just to clarify something. The landowner does not have internet access. This is why we have not seen him on here. A friend has taken all posting for him to read.
Anyway. maybe you are right chris about moving on. I am sure we will see other ways the selectmen save the town money LOLLLLLLLLL……………..They won’t explain it either just that they are LMAO…………..
chris
at the selectmans meeting selectmaqn cole stated he could have had a relative cut it for free, or the tree company could have cut more wood for profit and the tree he wanted to take down would have been included. instead he chose to spend his own money so that the town could save money on a tree that was dangerous, and had to be removed becuase of the liability.
andy seems to think the landowner is happy with the outcome.moving on??why are issues never resolved with this board ,hoping we will move on??lets get some answers then we’ll move on !!
how does a tree company profit from cutting a tree down and leaving the wood cut for the town to clean it up?where do they make their money unless they’re a non-profit or need practice in cutting trees??i don’t believe this is the case.darryl i don’t think your the darryl you want to be because i know darryl and you aren’t the darryl i know so you need to pick another poster name imposter.AGAIN!!!your not good at this game!!!i for one know how tree cutting goes because you know i’ve done this for over 20 years so your logic is not mine or darryls logic.keep trying!!!!!!!!!!
LOL chris. What some people won’t do to stir the pot. They must be bored or need attention.
not stiring the pot.trying to cover their butt from what they’ve done!! iwonder who??any guesses, its pretty obvious??!!the same one who’s begging to move on and forget what they did.
