Selectmen Solicit Suggestions for Town Report

March 7th, 2010 by Glen Stadig --> 10 Comments

Its that time of the year.  Selectmen Cole sent me a message explaining how work has begun one the annual town report and they’re looking for anything people would like to suggest.
Any residents who may have pictures of events or buildings in Lebanon to please send them to Selectmen by March 27th. We are looking for pictures from any groups in town or residents who may have snapped a great picture that we can put into Lebanon’s history with the annual report. Anyone with pictures can email them to the selectmen at lebselectmen@metrocast.net or contact Selectman Jason Cole at (207) 608-5615.

Show the fully burdened wages for employees in the Town Report, showing them as you do doesn’t fully disclose and provide a complete picture.
Wages, Taxes Benefits, Retirement, Bonus, OT, Misc Compensation, should all be included.

Publish Town Report to PDF on the Town Website for easy resident access. Perhaps keep all the prior years up and available as well.

    Hi Glen,

Thanks for posting the request to get info and pictures for the town report. I am hoping to get some neat things. This is a journal of the town and all the events, something that our children and grandchildren will see.

Last year I asked to help with the town report and we made several changes. The newer larger format we felt was better for residents to read. The pictures show the things the way they are now, and in the future will be neat to look back. I think last year was the first year with the salaries and some other vendor lists.

Last year we also for the first time made the report in PDF file for all residents and not only put it on this website, but the town website. We will have a collection of these PDF reports from now into the future.

I am sure the wage information can be changed. Most towns do it the way we did it, but it seems easy enough to show the true picture of the wages and I will work on that as well.

All these are good suggestions and I encourage any more to send me the info~

    Thanks
    Jason

Last years report was a great improvement and a significant move in the right direction. I know it takes a considerable effort to get these books put together and I appreciate your efforts, am sure you will get lots suggestions and feedback.

I personally thought this years town report was much easier to read and had the info we need in it. It would be good to have the break down of all the benefits that we pay. I had asked before why some people had like $2,000 in money in the vendor report and I found out that this could be for work or mileage reimbursement. Some people also pay on their credit cards and get reimbursed so it looks like they got paid and they actually got re-imbursed.

I think this site is informative and am glad I heard about it. I think we DO have some elected officials that are in it for the best of the people. I hope that they vote down the never ending funding question when it comes up since Selectman Cole was the only one who kept his word. This might be the year to send a message that I am sick everytime I got to the town hall of the attitudes I get there. If they were elected, then they may be nice to people since they have to get elected again. Right now as long as they are breathing, they are all set. They need to realize they work for us and I am sorry they have to interupt their gossip sessions cramped into one of the offices. Why are there so many people there? I never see any customers and I hate going there.

Keep up the good work, people are noticing.

Wasn’t there a problem with putting the year before tax bills in last years town report? I’m not sure on that. If that was the case, how about putting in the MOST RECENT INFO? In other words be up to date on info put in the reports for all to see.

    Claire,

The town report has all the information for a full fiscal year, so it goes for the July 2008-June 2009 time frame. Next year, it will have the full fiscal year for 2009-2010. This is how all town reports do it, except towns on calender years, which are few and far between.

it took me forever to figure out why they did this too, but now I understand.

    who compiles the town report?
    who’s printing the town report?

there are a few online printers that will save 30-50%…
