A Whole Lot of This and That

I have a whole lot of thoughts for you guys this morning.  I hope it isn’t too jumbled, but I don’t know how to do each separately.  Anyway, here it goes……………

1.  Why does our Town government NOT seem to want a Town Administrator?  Could it be they are worried about what that Manager would discover?  Are they afraid they would loose some of the power (and finances) that they wield?

2.  Have you noticed how the bids get published in the newspapers?  They make it difficult for anyone who wants to place a bid, hence maybe that is the reason their own companies get the contracts.  Or what is the real reason?

3.  When you ask the Road Commissioner to come and check out your culvert at the end of your driveway, because it is broken, and he checks the opposite side of what you tell him, why does he do that?

4.  Why doesn’t the Town want to help families that are in need?  Does it take away from other plans for your tax dollars? What is the real reason?

5.  Why do our illustrious selectmen always say “We are working on it” or “We’ll get back to you on that”, or another good one, “We’re looking into it”?  If your last name isn’t the same as the half dozen or so original families here in Lebanon, you get  ignored.  Can you spell F  A  V  O  R  I  T  I  S  M ???

6.  Isn’t it nice that there will be a plaque at the Town Hall put up in memory of  the Civil War Veterans?  This was brought up at the last Selectman’s meeting,  The selectmen  said they would “look into it”.  Guess what, they already have the boulder in place,  and are ready to mount the plaque.  Too bad the people of the Town didn’t have the opportunity to vote on that.  We might have been able  to honor the veterans of other conflicts too……….

Do you know how to play Monopoly here in Lebanon?  It’s do NOT pass go but pay me $200 and if you scratch my back you can have Park Place,  maybe…………………… unless I want it.

It can be frustrating and is frustrating. Being involved and being an active participant in your town WILL change things. You and others are seeing the light and it is good to question why 2 + 2 = 5.

I encourage you and everyone who reads this to come to the Selectmen Meetings, and come to the Citizens Roundtables. Be active in town anyway you can.

I am also looking for a volunteer or two who would be available to record the Tuesday morning Selectmen Meetings using my video camera. Please email me and let me know if you can help. gstadig@gmail.com
