I must also agree, I think its great that they do these reports and when you visit their website you get a lot of information, like where they are spending their money.

I also think it is great that instead of covering up that someone missed a mandated training that they would be removed, to save the town from fines!!

I am very appreciative of all the work the rescue department does. This just shows that they are honest and open.

Personally I don't think Observed is being involved I think Observed was takin g a stab at our rescue organization for being caring and helping others. I also agree with you Glen that ALL town departments should be showing their reports as to what is going on there but I think that they are too buzy wondering what they can get out of the town too worry about anything else. I have one question I noticed that both you and Observed are in blue on your names what does that mean? I'm just curioius. Thanks

Yeah it is tough to beat up a volunteer or volunteer organization.

The fact the Chief observed that some members have not maintained the required training is excellent.
It shows her system of management and maintaining training records and standards is working as it should.
Truth is "we" do not understand the details behind this training going out of spec and it could be nothing more than required training was last Friday and a couple people were on vacation and have to make it up. So I see it as nobody dropping the ball, it is the normal cycle of business.

If the State or other third party had brought the training deficiency to light then that would be a different matter and certainly point to trouble. That doesn't appear to be the case in this instance.

I think it is great Chief Cole publishes her reports, much of which is really internal information. I would like to see ALL Town departments provide a monthly or weekly update providing a public status of happenings, projects, problems, and successes. I think it's great your reading her reports and also visiting this website, keep up the interest, we need more involved residents like you.

Stated in the Rescue Chiefs report:
Tuesday June 30th – Several rescue members were removed from the roster for non-compliance with department regulations on medical and safety policies. Please see Lieutenant Elliott to get the necessary training completed.

Who dropped the ball on this one? Perhaps they were busy installing address signs that us residents should be responsible for doing ourselves. I know I know, your not supposed to say anything BAD about our beloved rescue.

I wasn't sure where to post this and I hope Jason sees this. My husband went down the driveway this morning 7/10/09 and saw on the tree reflective numbers for our driveway. We wanted to thank the rescue squad for doing this. We wanted to get them. We really thank all that Jason and the rescue squad has done for us.

We were visiting family in Bar Harbor this past holiday weekend. Tou our surprise, we saw a magazine at the corner store with a multi-page article in "Raising Maine" magazine which is a statewide magazine about our rescue chief!!! It was great for our town. Congratulations Samantha!
