Consideration – Can Do!

June 30th, 2009 by Glen Stadig --> 4 Comments

In looking through the fury of comments and traffic that has erupted on the website over the past few weeks up through the election I sometimes get overwhelmed. I am pleased so many have come forward and found the website and that so many are participating and sharing their opinions. At the same time I don’t want the website to become negative place. I want to see the website remain focused on constructive dialogue, information sharing, news, and problem solving.

Certainly at times topics may stray from the original posting, and people can get perturbed, which is o.k. and natural…. it’s human nature. My hopes are as we as we unite as a  community with purpose, we will get beyond some of these lesser things.  I know it can be hard, we are a small town, I ask that we try to keep the “personal” side of arguments a side and remain focused on the problem. Often times it is not about So and So… It more about about what So and So did or about how they were allowed to do it?

It is obvious that there is a growing  enclave of Lebanon arriving here each day, and that is exciting!  That what this website is about!

Let’s be sure to keep the criticism constructive and the focus on the problem not the person, even though at times it may look like one and the same.

I have herd of many similar online initiatives conducted by other towns and they lose traction primarily over the negativity. Lets not let that get the better of our website. We all arrived here because we have a common goal of improving the future of our town. We can do that by learning from the past, paying attention to the present, and acting to influence the future.

Be sure to give others full consideration and keep the attitude can do!

    I havent really seen any negative postings. I think it has been constructive, besides maybe the comment about Don Hollenbeck needing medication maybe?

    I think this is a wonderful website. It’s nice to see that so many have come forward to share their views and concerns. My thought is that the negativity comes from years of frusturation and not being heard. Change comes from many voices speaking out and standing up for what is right. We can do together what one cannot do alone. Once we see the changes start to happen I think that the “Can Do!” will come into play instead of “Oh what the heck!”.
    My husband and I have been fighting a battle for several years now and have felt very alone in doing so. This website has helped us to see that we all have one common bond. “A better and safer community”. We would like to tell our story and will as soon as we can find the words and put them on paper. It has been like a nightmare. We thank you all for sharing your views and thank you Glen for putting up this website.

    Glen, John, and Striveforchange;

    DITTO!!!

    I’ve tried to explain myself as good as I can with a subject and sometimes it seems like a chat room with all the responses!

    I agree that keeping it professional,as best one can, or at least adult like will allow for good dialog!

    May be I do need medication!
    Maybe I am the medication!?

    I’m just thankful to Glen for this website!

    The people, I think, haven’t had an affordable and easy way to express their views to the masses in such an easy manner, ever, until the advent of the internet!

    I heard that the town had a sort of round table in the past. I don’t know if the lack of a web site for conversing and interacting was the reason for it’s discontinuance, but I feel that if our voices aren’t heard now then there is something more wrong with the community than what we realize!

    Don:

    I don’t think you need medication at all. It is very hard to concentrate and put down on this website your feelings. At least you try to explain what your saying. I agree, Glen has done a wonderful thing for us so we ALL can express our opinions and feelings. Thank you for sharing yours with us……
