Our Voice : Citizens For a Better Lebanon Maine

I; as many people; have no, (or not much), time to get involved with the
affairs of the town I live in or government in general!

I have had the time , on occasion, to express my view point; and with
the auto update system incorporated into this website,(thank you Glenn),
that shows up in my e-mail; I might find a chance to respond to comments
now and then!

As I see it; though sometimes not clearly enough; the people would
rather not have anything to do with politics!

Most people would rather be left alone to live their lives unencumbered
by their government to do as what pleases them!

Ah! The good ole live and let live, U.S.A.!

It would be nice if we could all live in a land that is like a fairy
tale, where all is perfect, and peace is the law of the land and
injustice is dealt with swiftly; but; since we live on the planet Earth,
and are Human beings, we must either hide under a rock or in a cave and
get what is dealt to us by others, or, we must stand up and make our
voices heard and accounted for!

I “make” the time to do what I can for this town; even though it’s not
much other than voicing my opinion, (at least it’s something!)!

I wonder, sometimes, why we must have so many rules and regulations
that I almost need to be a lawyer to understand things!

That would mean that I would have to have a degree in everything that
affects my life so I could handle each one personally, or have enough
money to hire all those people to do what’s needed!

Neither one of those scenarios is going to happen for most of us!

This is why we live in what is supposed to be a “REPUBLIC”!

Elected “REPRESENTATIVES”!

We may think, sometimes, that our elected representatives aren’t
representing us as we requested.

This may or may not be happening, (as per each individual situation)!

We should be represented as per our vote alone and nothing more; unlike
our representatives would like to believe otherwise!

I’m sorry if I wondered into fairy tale land on that one, but therein
lies the problem!

If I and “every” town resident can’t, or doesn’t find the time to at
least express an opinion then we will have a minority, (such as in the
last town vote), set the rules and agenda for us all!

We all know that what one person thinks is good and right isn’t good and
right for everyone!

This is why we need rules and regulations!

So; Do I have time to deal with my government?

I don’t think I(or any of us) have a choice!

Because we are human and have so varied amounts of opinions, we must
“deal” with each other to attain what we,as individuals, see fit as fair
to our own personal lives!

This means we must, (as much as we don’t want to, or as much as we don’t
have the time) make some sort of effort,(even with just a spoken
opinion), to say …

“MY OPINION IS THIS”!

Take a minute out of your hectic schedule and give an opinion so others
may be enlightened!

You might be surprised at how many people have similar opinions, (or
concerns for that matter)!

Ask your representative if they read opinions on this web site, and
respond to them on the web site!

If they don’t, then you’re not being represented!

That’s my opinion!
