Communications This Week:
* For the second week in a row, we had 6 calls for service on Saturday.
* The annual subscriptions to the ambulance service will be mailed out next week. They are currently being printed.
* School will be ending for the year tomorrow (Monday June 22, 2009). Please drive carefully and watch for all the kids on the sides of the road playing.
* We are forming a new committee to spec out and make recommendations for the new ambulance we will be going for. This committee will meet and help design the new ambulance. Anyone interested, please let me know. Anyone who is picked will also be able to go to the Chief’s Conference on Saturday June 27th to look at all the newest equipment and ambulances on display. The conference is really great and you get to see all the latest. Please let me know if you are interested. I will not be able to pick everyone. The committee will probably be about 5 total members. I will also be inviting the budget committee to be part of the process as well as a resident to serve on the committee to get their feedback.
* On Tuesday evening, Doctor Wakeman was killed in an accident in Sanford. Doctor Wakeman has worked with us extensively as her job of director of occupational services. She was the one who has helped us with the health screenings, etc. She passed away late last night at Maine Medical. Her husband, Doctor Hall, is the Director of Emergency Services at Goodall. We sent a card and condolences to the family from the rescue.
* Most responders red light permits will be expiring 7/1/2009. Please see me to get a new signed one.
* The rescue corporation started to sell the reflective street address signs. There have been a lot of calls lately where the ambulance was delayed in finding the patient because there were no house numbers up.
* Royal Edgerly and Matt Beal are now official members. We still have about 13 applications pending. No new members will start until they finish all of the Department of Labor requirements.
* Central Maine Power will be flying low in a helicopter surveying the power lines over Lebanon through June.
Past Weeks Events:
Sunday June 14: The appreciation BBQ and Family Fun Night took place at Flat Rock Bridge Family Resort. There was a BBQ, water slide, pools, mini-golf and lots of fun!! Even with the rain, it was a great turnout and an exceptionally good time. Thanks to Welch’s Hardware and Lumber, Just for Chevy Trucks, Flat Rock Bridge Family Resort and the Rescue Corporation for a great time!!
Tuesday June 16: Goodall Occupational Health was at the Rescue Station from 6pm to 8:30pm to do the medical clearance exams for all members. We then did the FIT test and policy review upstairs. We had a great turnout and hope to get everyone who couldn’t make it done this week.
Tuesday June 16: I met with the fire chief and a designer for a new public safety building the building committee has been looking at. We are hoping to submit a grant in the new public safety building part of the Obama’s recovery stimulus program.
Patient Correspondence
We received two great patient surveys this week – excellent work!!
We received the following email from a resident as well: “Rob and I want to thank you and the rescue team for all your help. We can’t say enough good things about you guys. Rob and I would still like to know who it was that came up and sanded our driveway over the winter so we can at least send a thank you note.”
We received a lot of cards from the students from the Safety Day on Friday, June 5th. The kids were very appreciative and the cards were great!
Vehicle Maintenance Issues:
The new EMS Truck arrived last Wednesday. It looks great. We are working on installing the lights and equipment.
Station Maintenance Issues:
The station looks great from all the hard work volunteers have been doing – thank you!!!
Have a safe week!!

Why do the other town departments not do this? Even if they did something once a month, we would know what they were doing.
I think it is great that they do this and post their budget info including expenses and revenue on their website.
