Congratulation to Mr Patch…Mrs Potter, Mr. Stuart, and Mrs Churchard
I want to thank all of you who supported me at the polls, and I really appreciated all the kind words of encouragement. I am disappointed but not defeated. I will look to double my efforts for the future and ask those of you who support improvement for our Town to unite and promote best practices and sound policies throughout. I ask each of you to try to get just that little more involved, that little bit will make the difference when compounded by many.
In meeting and speaking with many of you I sense the same desires, hopes and frustrations that catapulted my creation of this website and led to my name on the ballot. I pledge to continue my efforts and encourage you again to become more involved. Thank You again for your support, together we can initiate and sustain improvement. – Glen Stadig
What do these results say about our town? It seemed that many residents, including myself, were very upset about the state of our town last year with the huge tax increase and the lack of responsibility the previous selectman showed with proper budgeting. Yet, with the opportunity to get some new thinking into office, along with a chance to hire a town administrator to help with properly spending our tax dollars, only 835 residents cared enough to even vote. And unfortunately the majority of those who voted felt that everything is working great just the way it is. I am extremely disappointed. Running this town is a bigger job than 3 part-time selectman can do properly.
I completely agree with John’s comments. I was certain that the Lebanon residents were tired of the questionable dealings in our town, and were finally going to stand up and say, enough. Shame on us for squandering this opportunity.
Mr. Stadig,
I sincerely hope you will submit your name again next year for the Selectman election. Until then, I am sure you will serve the town well on the Budget Committee, and continue to keep our town well informed with this site. Good luck to you, sir.
Mr . Stadig,
welcome to Yahooville.
You will find in this town it’s not about what is right for the taxpayer . It’s about who you know and who you are related to and all the abuses that go with it. In the 10 years we’ve been here there isn’t much for the better that has changed.
Good luck to you
Good job Glen!! Though you lost you have brought several ideas and problems to the residents attention . You are an asset to this town and I’m sure you will be very helpful on the budget committee and look forward working with you to better this town . More residents need to get involved and stand up for what is good for this town . Putting our elected officials on notice that we are watching and listening to what is happening is only a start . Thank you for being the eyes and ears for residents !!!
I was disappointed but not surprised by the selectmen’s results. My husband has been here since 1961 and knows much about what is going on here in town. Gil is right it is about who you know and who you are related too…….Please Please protect your home and property. When they go to re do the tax maps make an appointment and take your deed and if you have one take your survey. Take it from one who knows ………………..Mr. Stadig has done a wonderful job as well as others who are honest enough to do what is right and care about this town…….
When do they redo the tax maps?
There was a referendum that was voted on to update the tax maps and the referendum was passed. I know there are those who like to help themselves instead of helping the town or the tax payers. I’m not sure what method they are going to use to do this, all I know is to watch closely………..
Im very dismayed by the low voter turn out- less than 1000 people. And have to agree with Kim -that it is all about who you know and the backwards way of this town. Im sad to see that Mr. Stadig was not victorious with all his efforts and time spent on getting his name out there! KUDOS Mr. Stadig please keep up the fight, you have MANY people behind you and believe in your values. I think that others will get more involved in the town’s issues. I know I certainly will. Hope to see your name on next years ballot!
Thank You All Again !!
Your support helps keep me sane, because often times things do not add up or make sense.
The election has passed…It doesn’t do any good to complain…we can’t change the past. Let us all learn from it and put our energy forward. As frustrating as it is, turn that into action by working on solutions to making something better.
One thing I know is there is a whole lot of mess in many areas. I actually started a list from speaking with many of you and hearing many of the problems.
We need solutions, ideas problem solving. You can’t fix everything at once.
Perhaps we can do things together in a workshop, perhaps individually you can research, attend meetings, and become active.
You know you (we) can’t keep doing what you have been doing. I once herd “the definition of insanity is doing the EXACT same thing over and over and over again and expecting different results.
You need to do things differently.
If I or this website can facilitate that Great! Change and improvement will take action and requires more than complaining and self pity.
We can improve, We just need to Find the Path…It’s right there, lets start looking!
First off I want to Thank the Wonderful Citizens of Lebanon that came out and voted yesterday. I had the opportunity to stand next to my husband Glen and meet several of you. Your words of encouragement meant so much to the both of us. I’m very Proud of Glen and all the hard work he has done and will continue to do to help improve Our Great Town. I wish more people had come out to vote… if you don’t vote, you don’t have a voice. It’s hard for me to understand the low voter turn out after the HUGE property tax increase not to mention all the referendums that were so important to Our Town. Again, Thank You so much for all the support you have shown him. Glen truly cares about Lebanon and I know the town can only benefit from having him as 1 of their voices.
The fleecing of the Lebanon taxpayer will continue for another year . Guard your wallets and pocketbooks because there will be a hand in them soon enough . Pay close attention where your tax dollars are being spent . Watch all tax acquired property . Will the “administrator” from the dump be moved to the SWAMP PALACE to help handle the cashflow ?? Where there’s cash she’ll be there !! Watch your backs girls .
Why would a resident that bitched and complained as a selectman about time constraints and being tired at every meeting accept a position on the budget committee ?
Glen,
I’m ready to put my talk into action and encourage everyone who was disappointed, to do as well. Let me know where I can help.
Glenn,
Mary,
Do you know about the round table meeting on August 1st? It will be held at the old Town Hall in the Center at 6:30 PM. Please come and air your views, and do tell all your friends and neighbors that want to get involved and help.
Glen.
Kudos to you for stepping up to the plate, as I did last year. But now you know, the vote in this town is largely controlled by the elderly.
Why? Because they are the ones that show up! Younger parents are content to bitch, not show up. It is everyones problem, but noones place to fix it.
This is not relegated only to the town voting, but any organization. Little League is the same. LL is based on all volunteers, no one is paid. But many think that because the same folks are there everyday, they must be getting something.
Some people have a lot of vocal nerve and seem to feel vindicated every time they mouth off that “the coaching sucks”, “the field is littered with trash, why isn’t someone cleaning it up”, “where’d they get that Umpire?” Just a few typical comments. And mine is always the same: fill out the volunteer app and step up to the plate and fix it. The umps and volunteers you see there did. And it is for the towns kids, not you!
Nope! Not gonna happen!
I believe that if you do not particiapte in the process, shut up. You have nothing to say because you are part of the problem. Too many negatives and not enough positive influences to moderate change.
I have been in this town since 1993, and have gotten myself involved with the town office and other organizations through volunteer work. It gets me more knowledge in the workings of this town, its government, and the people in it.
We can blame the towns problems on the selectmen, secretaries, transfer station workers…. whoever you want. But they are NOT the problem….. the towns people are by NOT Being THERE!! I have been monitoring the votes for the last few years, and the average is about 975 out of a town of 5000. That is pretty miserable.
I talk to friends and neighbors and they all say they will turn out and vote. But it rained, or the kids had a “thing”, or the dog needed its nails done. Always something.
You can’t put the blame on town hall alone. I have seen change there, and improvement. It has a long way to go, but steps have been taken since some retirements. Judy started a few, and Jason is doing some, and if I get in there, I have a long a$$ list, as probably Glen does.
So I think the only way to FIX the problem is more involvement, more news and results, and more positive influences.
Why did Ronnie win? Because the people that voted trust him. You may not like it, but it is not his fault. It is the voters’ problem.
Time to spark up the towns people, not the selectmen. Egads! Even Jason posted his number on here and offered to talk to anyone.
You can’t get too more open than that unless you wanna snuggle up to him at home! But Sam might not have something to say about that!
My opinion. Have a great day and go cheer on Lebanon’s All-Star teams. The need POSITIVE influence as well!
Steve Endsley
You all have it !!!
Now talk to your neighbors and convince them to show up at the meetings (round table , etc.) and to vote (informed)!
This; as you all put it, is an outrage that the few control the town!
The people who pay their hard earned money into this town should know what is going on and have a decisive say!
Spread the word, and this might not happen again!???!
Don
Only 85 voters took 5 minutes out of their day to decide our towns budget, how dispicable. Everyone complains but then they are too busy to take a minute to take action.
What a disappointment
should have been 835
Sorry I made a mistake the roundtable is July 1st. Where the heck is my brain. Good gosh …………….
If it comes down to Stadig vs Endsley, I hope that the citizens ask around. Steve is a good guy but has a hard time running Little League. He also has made out very well as a contractor in town. I am not sure how much, but i can find out from the town hall over the past 10 years how much his company has made. Do we want more inside jobs? Glen seems to have no financial gains by being selectman. Glen seems to have the towns best interest at heart.
I know several other ladies that would love to talk to you about how the little league has been run over the past few years.
I will help campaign for you Glen, I am afraid what would happen if Steve got in. I have some good info to share when the time comes
IM A YOUNG PARENT AND I SHOWED UP TO VOTE STEVE……. THERE ARE INFORMED “YOUNG” PARENTS OUT THERE, ALTHOUGH MOST ARE TO BUSY TO CARE—– IT IS SO SAD. THEY HAVE NO ROOM TO BITCH. THEY DID NOT VOTE BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT PROMISED THE WORLD, NO INCENTIVE. THAT’S THE PROBLEM.
The way of life that the old timers in this neighborhood are used too (that is taking advantage of whatever they can to gain what they can to help themselves) will stay just that way if EVERYONE does not get out and vote and do there part regardless of how buzy they are. You reap what you sow. As I said I haven’t been in this neighborhood as long as the old timers here but I know first hand as to what has been going on for years…..
When I went to vote, it was all younger people. Steve always tries to find excuses why he lost last year by saying only the older folks vote. I know a lot of Little League people also who would vote for anyone that ran against him. Mr Cole ran and won so steve blames it only on “the elderly voting”.
I agree with Taxed Out, I hope Glen re-runs.
I do believe that Steve is wrong and is simply misinformed about ” young” parents. I would like to know where he came up with that statement?????? It is people like this that have no business in politics and should stick to their day jobs, your a product of your “friends” in town. You cant insult the people and expect for them to vote for you.
I don’t blame ya Danielle for being upset but don’t let one person play havoc in your head. Some people just like to type off at the fingers and hope someone will pay attention. . Shake it off and let it go, I can tell you really have a good head on you shoulders.
strive- thanks for your kind words. I feel that Glen does not have any conflict of interests in town and it seems that everyone in town knows everyone and there is no rhyme or reason. I know what kind of person I am and what I believe. Their has to be a better way of running our town, plain and simple. I can see some good change, but I know there has to be accountability and compromise and not acting hastily. We live in a small town and have a vast community and it should be managed in a resonable and responsible manner. We will have to change the ways in order to thrive as a community. I may be a little wet behind the ears according to Steve being “young” and all but you can talk and use big words and belittle people but that is not going to help.
Who is Steve “Hot Air” Endsley anyhow ? Sounds like some of the selectmen we already have in place . Watching the meetings on this site , where was Steve for his input ? Was he whispering his ideas in Mr. Patchs ear at the dump ? Steve keep your hand out for whatever you do , but for the sake of the town we need someone interested in stopping corruption not helping it more . The chairs at the town hall are already full during the day so look somewhere else to watch t.v. !!! Complaining of the younger generation isn’t solving anything , try explaining whats happening may be more productive . Why did the people trust Ronnie , because he’s a GOOD bullsh2tter and likes the scare tactics on the elderly that you speak of . So next time I view the next selectmen meeting I’ll be looking for you to see who you really are (another sheep or someone with a backbone that isn’t all talk ) !!!!
