Lebanon Rescue Offers Reflective Signs

Each year, the Lebanon Rescue Department responds to hundreds of calls where the property owners do not have their street numbers properly displayed. During serious medical emergencies, seconds count and being able to quickly identify the correct house could help save someones life.Statistics show that the survivability of someone suffering a stroke or heart attack diminish substantially in the first hour after the event.

When you need 911 response service.. You need it Fast!, You need It Immediately.

You do not want to be the next person to tell the story about how they watched as the emergency ambulance or firetruck went back and forth, up and down the street looking for the house number, until it was flagged down by someone standing in the street!

Statistics also show that only 3 of every 10 homes have house numbers adequate for reading at night. These house number address signs are very readable at night and will help responders find your house or business quickly.

On our rural roads and dark streets, it is often hard to see numbers stenciled on a mailbox, and that is why we recommend using a reflective street sign with large numbers.

Not only will it help the ambulance crew find you, it will help the police and fire departments, Postal Service, visiting friends and delivery people.

The Lebanon Rescue Corporation is selling these high quality and highly visible street signs as a fundraiser. For $15.00 you get your choice of blue or green reflective signs with 4″ reflective letters. The rescue volunteers will install the signs for free to your posts. The proceeds from the fundraiser will be used for the rescue’s community education programs and helping families that suffer tragedies throughout the year.

If you would like to purchase a reflective address sign, you can visit the Lebanon Rescue website at www.lebanonrescue.com or the Town of Lebanon website at www.lebanon-me.org. You can also contact us at (207) 608-5615.  Sign forms will also be available at the Lebanon Town Hall.

“Our goal is to get every house to put up their street number so emergency crews can find them during an emergency. We offer these signs at almost our cost so that residents have an option thats reasonable and the rescue volunteers will go to your house and install them on your post for you. The responders want to be able to help you and find you in an emergency. This has been a large concern over the past few years, we have waisted several  minutes driving up and down roads looking for the correct house. When someone really needs us, it is very frustrating for the responders to keep searching the area for the house. We do not care if you get these signs from us or another reflective sign, as long as you put the number up so we can see it day or night, thats all we are trying to accomplish.” Chief Samantha Cole added.

The signs are available to people from any community. We hope to be able to work with other towns in getting similiar programs set up, some already have programs.

Anyone with additional questions can contact the Rescue Department at (207) 608-5615.

Remember, every second counts – put up your street number today!

Sounds like a sales pitch to raise money!
    Are you getting a cut?

I think you do have a legitimate gripe though!
I would do it if it would help you guys!

Although g.p.s. automatically gives you my location, any additional help would be appreciated, as most people know!

Sell me what you want and I’ll be glad to help you out!
    Don

  2. Pat Allard says:

    Mr. Hollenbeck,
Did you read the article before posting? It clearly states that this is a FUNDRAISER, and the money raised from the sale of the reflective signs will be used for community education programs and for families involved in tragedies. The article goes on to tell you how to proceed is you would like to purchase a sign.

I have to tell you a story about UPS. I can’t blame it all on him but for almost 4 days they tried to deliver some important papers and could not find our driveway. What we were getting was time sensative. We had no signs on our driveway. My husband finally went down and put name and numbers on the posts at the beginning of our driveway. The guy couldn’t find us, finally another driver from UPS delivered the papers only because he had delivered here before and knew where we lived. I think its a great idea…………….We are not the only ones this has happened too here in Lebanon. The second UPS driver told us this has happened to other people here in town. Hey Pat, I’m glad to see ya I wanted to explain to ya that I was upset at the road conditions here in town I didn’t mean to offend you.

  4. Pat Allard says:

    Hi Strive,
I don’t understand, I don’t remember you offending me. To which post are you referring?

  5. striveforchange says:

Hi Pat, I don’t remember where it was but I said something about the left handed way the road commission does things, remember? I always put my fingers in my mouth before I type. What i was referring to was that whoever paves the roads here in town they do a crappy job and I just wanted to apologize because I always type before I think about what to type. Remember?

  6. Pat Allard says:

    Hi Strive,
yes, I remember. My apologies to you then, are needed. I wasn’t really offended. I am a southpaw, and that was my attempt at a light-hearted joke. I am sorry to make you think you said somethng that needed an apology. No worries here.

  7. Another confused taxpayer says:

I don’t know this Holenbecker guy, but what planet is he from?

Its obvious the rescue is trying to get people to put up their house numbers so they can find them to save lives. They offer a solution (cheap for the buyer too, I paid $20 for mine and its not as nice). Mr Holenbecker needs to move back to Mass

  8. Danielle says:

ANOTHER CONFUSED TAXPAYER- U R RIGHT
I THINK HE SHOULD READ BEFORE TYPING, IF YOU WANT TO SUPPORT THEM DO IT. WE DONT NEED THE “EXTRA” STUFF.

  9. striveforchange says:

I know for a fact they are very expensive. I used to work at Home Depot and they cost $20 or more and flimsy. Not very well made at all.

  10. rural says:

Mr Hollenbeck, did you read the posting?

I did and its clear that the rescue is offering signs and the proceeds help teach our children in the schools. It also states that they do not care if they get their sign or some other sign, JUST PUT UP YOUR NUMBER so they can save lives.

Kudos again to our rescue department for being pro-active and caring for our community

  11. Corinna says:

I have to agree with rural. The Rescue Squad identified a problem and were pro-active in solving it. We should all applaud their willingness to have fundraisers that not only can improve their services but keep our taxes down while doing them. A Win-Win fundraiser we should all participate in : )

  12. Taxed Out says:

I have tried to find houses around town and the whole streets did not have a number off. I don’t know how people expect to be found if they don’t post!

    Good idea

  13. Taxed Out says:

I just read what Mr. Hollenbeck wrote, WTF?

i am really confused. Maybe i read a different post then everyone else?

  14. striveforchange says:

You didn’t Taxed LOL. I had to say the samething. Maybe lack of sleep on his part? WHEW
