In going through the town reports I see people on the Budget Committee and on other committees that also work inside the town hall or in other town departments. Does that seem at all odd to you? I could hear the dialog now…”Hey what kinda of raise do we want this year?” I can see how town employees could participate in other areas potentially, but not in the Budget. It would seem to me to be impossible to recuse oneself adequately. I think we should have a better check and balance in this area and perhaps organize a referendum that restricts participation in budgetary committees as a town employee. What do you think, separate the conflict of interest?
